Congratulations on your decision to stay at Ashton Court Belize and visit Caye Caulker!

The following information is to help you with arrival and transfers once you arrive at Belize International Airport. Upon arriving, guests are required to go  through immigration, pick up luggage and then go through customs. Your flight  attendant will give you a short form to fill out where you will need to disclose your length of stay and your hotel / resort name and address. You are staying at:

Ashton Court Belize
Playa Asuncion, Caye Caulker

Caye Caulker is an island and there are two ways to get there: by sea or by air.

By sea: you will need to take a taxi to Belize City to one of the two water taxis.  The last water taxi departs Belize City at 5:30 PM. If you are arriving after 4:30, we recommend that you consider flying as the taxi ride to the water taxi can be up to 45 minutes during “rush hour.” Upon getting through immigration and then customs, avoid using a porter as the taxi stand is outside the doors to your immediate right. Both water taxis are located within 5 minutes of each other, have about a 45 minute ride, and stop on Caye Caulker before heading over to San Pedro. Ocean Ferry stops a little closer to Ashton Court. A one way ticket from Belize to Caye Caulker should be about $18.00 US. Once you have arrived on the island of Caye Caulker, Ashton Court is 5 minutes walking distance to the south along the beach, or for a nominal fee, there are golf cart taxis waiting at the dock (there are no cars or paved roads on Caye Caulker). Most people walk, cycle, or rent a golf cart during their stay.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU MISS THE LAST WATER TAXI FROM BELIZE CITY?
A good taxi driver will call ahead to either of the water taxis and inform them that he is en-route with passengers from the airport. Depending on how many people are inbound – the water taxi MAY wait a few minutes. If you miss the water taxi – the Radisson Fort George Hotel is a good option for the night. It’s a Colonial gem, remnants of the British Colony and priced reasonably. Have dinner and cocktails and catch the first water taxi the following morning.

By air: Upon getting through immigration and customs, again, avoid the use of a porter. Both Tropic Air and Maya Island Air ticket counters are immediately to the left as you leave customs. You will check your bags in and have to go through security again. The flight is about 15 minutes in duration and is a great experience. On Caye Caulker, there will be a number of golf cart taxis ready to bring you to Ashton Court – 5 minute ride. Reservations are recommended.
